“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 14:12 NKJV
We continue today with further consideration of the lesson on deception the Lord gave me in 2008 (“Deception is for the Brethren”). [Text in bold print is from that lesson.]
“Areas of your being that are not totally submitted to the Almighty become conduits for deception. These areas have agendas not consistent with righteousness—yet they desire to be at "peace.” But this is not a God-peace, but a release from the conviction of My Spirit. Deception offers the remedy. The distortion of Truth with it (with the deception) bends the path. Eventually you have erred so far that you no longer see the true path.”
Make no mistake, when we look at the word through our own fleshly desires, the word will be bent, distorted, in the direction of that desire. James addresses this truth in speaking of the nature of temptation.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”
James 1:12-15 NKJV
As James notes, our fleshly desires lead to sin; and sin ultimately leads to death.
However, when we look at our fleshly desires through the word and will of God, our desires are brought into submission to righteousness, as error is exposed. And—as the psalmist attests—God‘s word, lights the path of righteousness for us.
“Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
Psalms 119:104-105 NKJV
Yes, as our opening scripture instructs, the path that “seems” right to us (being colored by our fleshly desires), leads to sin and death.
Lord willing, we will continue in our lesson tomorrow.
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
