“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

My dear father used to sing the song, “Peace in the Valley.” Part of this song reflects the prophetic word found in the book of Isaiah:

“In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm. Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This passage describes the way things will be when Christ rules and reigns on/from the Earth.

Hearing that song as a child, I would feel awe in my heart when thinking of a time when there would be perfect peace, even in the creation, even in the animal kingdom.

Over the last couple of days we have been discussing the chasm that existed between God and man because of sin.

What many people fail to realize is, with the fall of man, the rest of creation fell as well. Indeed, Paul references this fact in his letter to the Romans:

“Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Yes, ALL creation needed an intercessor; all creation needed a way, a bridge, from hopeless despair to reunion with the dynamo of God.

In our opening scripture we see Paul explaining to the Colossians that the reconciliation through Jesus Christ is made available to all the creation.

Only something that was estranged needs to be reconciled. Indeed, the creation was estranged from God; and, as such, also needed a Savior. All things needed an Intercessor!

Peace to you.

Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
