“And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.”
Acts 3:12-13, 16 ESV
One of the reasons we may hesitate to do something as simple as laying our hands on someone and praying for them, is wondering whether or not the prayer will work. We may wonder if we are qualified to do what God has called us to do.
To clarify: Anything the Lord has said is possible for us to do, should not be considered as referencing someone else. Rather, if the Lord has said we have the authority to do it, and we are in a situation calling for us to do it, then WE should do it.
Now, the Lord has given us His Holy Spirit. And, He can and will work through us by way of His Holy Spirit.
When the Lord gave The Great Commission to His disciples, He also assured them that He would be with them.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."”
Matthew 28:19-20 ESV
Indeed, He was working with them to do what He commanded and authorized that they do:
“So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”
Mark 16:19-20 NKJV
Now, if this was true of the Lord’s original disciples, it is certainly true of all those who have also received the Holy Spirit of God.
In our opening scripture we see that Peter is explaining to the people that the miracle causing the lame man to be able to walk, was done by Jesus Christ. In fact, it was the disciples’ faith in Jesus that brought this miracle of healing to the lame man.
Now, think about this: It isn’t about what you are able to do or not do; it’s about whether or not you believe Jesus Christ is able to do it. And, if you believe He can do it, miracles and wonders can be worked through you.
Understand, we are not operating in our own ability. When we do what the Lord calls us to do, we are able to do it because He enables us; it is His ability at work. And, when someone needs a miracle, we do not have to be afraid to ask that they receive it because it is Christ Who will do the work; we only have to believe that He can do it! And…that He can do it through us!
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
