“Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him. And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭45‬:‭10‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus was teaching as He was journeying towards Jerusalem. At one point, one of those He was teaching, asked Him if only a few would be saved. Jesus responded, not with a direct answer to his question, but rather with a command, and a warning.

“”Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭13‬:‭24‬-‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus wanted the man questioning Him to understand that worrying about the number who would be saved, is not helpful. What is helpful, is to make sure that he does whatever it takes to enter into the narrow Way to salvation.

Jesus made a point of warning that claiming Him as master, alone, was not going to garner entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭46‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Calling Jesus, “Lord,” is empty rhetoric, unless it is accompanied by obedient devotion.

The apostle Paul points out that living as one wholly belonging to God, is the only way to be a true worshiper.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Indeed, we must recognize that we have no right to rule ourselves. We have been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and as such, we honor Him by obeying His commands.

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In our opening scripture we see the psalmist speaking of the Lord as our King. Indeed, we worship Him, because He is our Lord. Amazingly, if we devote ourselves to Him, He will be our Husband!

Child of God, worship not accompanied by obedient devotion, worship from one who does not honor God’s rule in their life, is NOT true worship.

We’ll talk more tomorrow.

Peace to you.

Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
