“So Hathach returned to Esther with Mordecai’s message. Then Esther told Hathach to go back and relay this message to Mordecai: “All the king’s officials and even the people in the provinces know that anyone who appears before the king in his inner court without being invited is doomed to die unless the king holds out his gold scepter. And the king has not called for me to come to him for thirty days.””
Esther 4:9-11 NLT
Think about it, things we now take for granted, at one point in time had never been done before. Basically, that describes the phenomenon of inventions. Something that had not been done, or was not done a certain way, now can be done or is done in a different way than ever before. To that point, one of the first things that comes to my mind is men standing on the moon. Who, just a few decades ago, would have even thought that it would be possible? And yet, it did happen. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to step foot onto the moon’s surface. Since then, there have been 11 others who have followed in his footsteps. But again, before it was done, it had never been done before.
Now, that’s in the natural. That is, the moonwalk was the result of man’s efforts. It was imagined and then imagination was brought into the realm of reality by the bridge of man’s endeavor. But what about the realm of the miraculous?
Think about it, when the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry land with the water piled up on either side of them in great walls, obviously, that had never been done before. When the three Hebrew children walked around in a fiery furnace without even smelling like smoke, that had never been done before; and yet, not only was it done, but it was observed by the king.
So many miracles throughout the Bible tell of things that had never been done before but were done by the mighty hand of God.
One of the times something miraculous happened that had never happened before, is often lost by the magnitude of the rest of the story. That is the miracle of a little virgin girl conceiving a Child by the Holy Spirit, a Child to whom we all owe everything.
Now, in addition to all the biblical miracles, things that had never happened before, but did happen by the hand of God, are all the miracles in my own personal life. Yes, things that had not happened for me before, did happen, because God brought it to pass.
In our opening scripture we see that Esther—having received a message from her servant in which Mordecai instructs her to plead their case to the king—sends a message back to Mordecai explaining the fact that it just was never done that someone would go before the King without being summoned. So, the fate of the Jews now hinges on something happening that had never been successfully done before. We will soon see whether or not there will be a good outcome.
Remember, as we are living in the Last Days before the coming of Jesus Christ, we may find ourselves in situations for which there has never been a solution. We may find ourselves being called on to do things that we have never done before. We may find ourselves needing help and provision in ways that help has never been rendered. But make no mistake, just because it’s never been done before, doesn’t mean it won’t be done.
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
