“When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.”

‭‭Esther‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It was the cause of the first murder; indeed, it may have even been the cause of the rebellion of Satan. It was the reason the three Hebrew children were thrown into a fiery furnace and Daniel tossed into a lion’s den. It was the reason John the Baptist lost his head and the disciples lost their lives. It was behind Jesus Christ being crucified. And we could go on with myriad other biblical examples. Sadly, it will also be the reason many will be kept out of Heaven.

What is it that was at the root of all the aforementioned incidents? It was basically pride and the arrogance that goes with it.

Wanting to have more than others, wanting to be more than others, wanting to dominate over others, wanting to never be seen in anyway as being “outdone,” all find their impetus in pride and arrogance.

Make no mistake, when you take a stand for the Lord, it will be perceived as being—and indeed may be—contrary to someone else’s stand. And now, you find yourself in a battle just because of what you believe and Who you serve.

In our opening scripture we see that the tattletales we discussed yesterday have now stirred up Haman’s wrath. Mordecai is raining on Haman’s parade and that will not go unpunished!

Yes, our personal devotion to God is often seen as an affront to others, even to other Christians. And, in a world where many people are an offense waiting to happen, as you are obedient to the Lord, you’re bound to ruffle some puffed up feathers.

Our part is to conduct ourselves in an attitude of humility as we are obedient to the Lord. Past that, whatever it costs to be obedient, then so be it. “Haman” will do what he has to do…and so will we.

Peace to you.

Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
