Year of Realization - Day 16: There will always be “tattletales.”

“Then the palace officials at the king’s gate asked Mordecai, “Why are you disobeying the king’s command?” They spoke to him day after day, but still he refused to comply with the order. So they spoke to Haman about this to see if he would tolerate Mordecai’s conduct, since Mordecai had told them he was a Jew.”
Esther 3:3-4 NLT
Tattletales. You know the ones: they tell on other people to make themselves look better and as a means of maintaining or grabbing control and/or position.
Sadly, our society has taken telling on people to a whole new level. If you disagree with the “approved” opinions and behaviors, the “thought police” will put your name out there in such a way as to try to make your life a living hell. It’s wrong; but it also works to intimidate people into subjection.
Now, obviously, we are not talking about the legitimate cooperation of individuals toward the stopping and punishing of criminal behavior. This is something entirely different and we all know it when we see it.
A few years back a major ministry was wiped out—not by the world system—but as a result of a feud between pastors of major churches over mailing lists. The feud was held to a certain level because of “mutually assured destruction,” in that they had “blackmail” material on each other. But then, it turned into a contest to see who could “out” the other one first. It was a terrible thing and I’m sure that many people were hurt deeply as they became the collateral damage of a tattletale’s revenge.
Indeed, according to the Bible, the greatest tattletale is Satan. After all, he is the “accuser of our brethren.”
“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”
Revelation 12:10 NKJV
Yes, the great accuser will be cast down. But for now, he has many minions who do his bidding.
Make no mistake, if you are going against the flow by standing for what is right, by living a life faithful to our God and King, you will be subjected to tattletales who will impugn you in an effort to discredit you and stop you.
In our opening scripture we see that Mordecai—having refused to bow before Haman—is being subjected to the accusation of some royal tattletales. They wanted to make sure that Haman knew exactly what Mordecai is doing. It seems as though they thought this was the perfect opportunity to get back at “Mr. high-and-mighty.”
The bottom line is this: don’t allow accusers or tattletales cause you to be embittered because of what they are doing or to fall away from your steadfastness. The Lord sees all of these things; and sadly (yes, sadly), unless these people repent of their way of being and doing, they will share the fate of the great accuser.
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
