Year of Realization - Day 12: The King is generous.

“Then the king made a great feast, the Feast of Esther, for all his officials and servants; and he proclaimed a holiday in the provinces and gave gifts according to the generosity of a king.”

‭‭Esther‬ ‭2‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Have you ever noticed what a large entourage rich people collect? From time to time I have heard stories of Elvis Presley, for example, who always had quite a large group around him. It was nothing for him to give brand new Cadillacs to his (so-called) friends. As an aside, it’s sad that many of the same people watched him destroy himself, seemingly doing nothing to try to stop his downward spiral.

Considering how most people are drawn to something or someone they think will somehow enrich them, it’s amazing to me that more people don’t recognize the bounty available in God through Jesus Christ.

Now, of course, the motive of our coming to the Lord should not be that of getting wealth. Indeed, a whole sort of pseudo-denomination based on earthly prosperity, was booming a few years ago. As well, there are still some people making quite a good fortune by telling other people how God can make them rich if they will (first) make them rich.

I understand, that sounded very cynical, but that’s because that’s the way I feel about people who use the offer of God’s generosity to lure people to give them money. God is not pleased with that.

So, I’m not talking about seeking God for what He can give in terms of worldly possessions. But—mistake no mistake—those who find favor in His eyes, there is no limit to what God will do for them. Indeed, the Lord draws from His riches and gives to His children abundantly:

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As you can see from the above scripture, we gain access to God’s riches through Jesus Christ.

So the question may arise: “How much does God have?”Well, He did a wonderful job of describing His own riches:

“But I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens. For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭9‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Yes, everything. Let me repeat that, EVERYTHING belongs to the Lord! And, not only does the Lord have an endless supply of riches, He can give it to whomsoever He wishes!

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.”

‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God does lavish blessings and riches (whether here or in the world to come) on those who honor Him and are obedient to His word.

In our opening scripture we see that Esther—having found favor in the eyes of the king—has been lavished with great honor and has prompted the king to extend his generosity to many others.

Now consider this, if an earthly king will lavish wonderful things on his beloved, what will the Lord do for those who are His?

Peace to you.

Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
