Year “Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity.”
Psalms 141:9 NKJV
Asking deliverance from the snares and traps set by the enemy is a common theme throughout the psalms.
In Psalms 31 David asks to be delivered from secret nets set for him.
“Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.”
Psalms 31:4-5 NKJV
Interestingly, part of this verse proved to be prophetic of Jesus’ final words as He hung from the cross.
“And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.”
Luke 23:46 NKJV
In another place David says this:
“Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long.”
Psalms 38:12 NKJV
Notice, here David speaks of the deception being used by his enemies as part of the traps. On Day 43 we went into detail as to the bait used by evil to lure the righteous into traps.
In our opening scripture, we see that the next to the last verse in Psalm 141 has David again asking the Lord to keep him out of “the traps of the workers of iniquity.”
Child of God, the traps and snares of evil are no match for our dear Savior. He knows where all the traps are set. As we faithfully follow Him, not deviating according to our own desires, He will see us safely through the gauntlets we may have to face in coming days.
“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say— “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.” Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
Psalms 124:1-8 NKJV
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
