“Their judges are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, And they hear my words, for they are sweet.”
Psalms 141:6 NKJV
Last time we saw David asking for deliverance from evil, specifically, deliverance from the evil people who were persecuting him.
In today’s portion of Psalm 141 we see David remarking that when the evil leaders, the unjust judges, are destroyed, the people will know that he was right about them, that he had spoken the truth.
The Lord told Ezekiel that He was sending him to warn the people of coming judgement. But—by the way—the people would not heed the warning, but rather, would view him as some sort of entertainment. But the Lord also went on to say that when the prophetic word of warning came to pass, they would have to recognize that the person they viewed so flippantly, was truly a prophet of God.
“For I will make the land most desolate, her arrogant strength shall cease, and the mountains of Israel shall be so desolate that no one will pass through. Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.” ’ “As for you, son of man, the children of your people are talking about you beside the walls and in the doors of the houses; and they speak to one another, everyone saying to his brother, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’ So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain. Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them. And when this comes to pass—surely it will come—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.””
Ezekiel 33:28-33 NKJV
Child of God, being persecuted and/or discounted, is painful to endure. You may know you are on the right side of God’s judgment, and become frustrated when the bad guys seem to be winning.
Let’s consider what David prophetically says in another place;
“Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”
Psalms 37:8-11 NKJV
When you are being done wrong by evil people, you may be tempted to resent that they seem to flaunt themselves while you suffer.
But the fact is, sooner or later, the word of judgment against the wicked will come to pass, while those who have been faithful to the Lord, those who have suffered for His cause, will be proven to be right.
Remember, no matter how much evil people seem to prosper while the righteous suffer, vindication comes. Patiently wait for it.
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
