”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.“
John 1:1 NKJV
Just as there is no prescription in the Bible for the recognition or celebration of Christ’s birth (Christmas), there is no prescription concerning what is called, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” But—seeing we believe that more observances celebrating Christ is a good thing—we will jump on board with celebrating another 12 days!
The 12 days of Christmas have been celebrated for hundreds of years. Now, the dates observed as the 12 days, vary. For our purposes we will use December 26 through January 6.
For our observance, we will look to the first 12 verses of John’s Gospel for our meditation on each of the 12 days. Our consideration will be brief, but can be used as a source of meditation for those who would like to have a better understanding of the Gift born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago.
For this first day we meditate on the truth that Jesus is God. Don’t struggle with understanding what we call “The Trinity.” For now, let it suffice that God expresses Himself in three distinct ways (Persons) but is not a “committee” of 3 people.
Yes, Jesus, though fully man, was/is fully God.
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
