Prophetic Word 2024 - Day 44: Worship is spirit to Spirit.

“The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””

The time of Jesus’ betrayal was at hand. He was now speaking to the disciples on a different level, imparting to them what they needed to know to be encouraged and to remain steadfast.

After talking to them about the importance of them being united to Him as branches are to the vine, He then makes a very important declaration to them.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.“

Jesus was going to lay down His life for those whom He would now call “friends.” And, as the friends of Jesus, they would know what He was doing: Rather than just being commanded, not privy to the heart of the one commanding, they would now know His heart.

Indeed, in the same discourse, the Lord begins to talk to them about the Helper He would send from the Father.

“”But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.“

Just before Jesus’ declaration that he would now call them “friends,” He had told them that He was going to pray to the Father for this Helper to be sent.

“”If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.“

Then, after the Lord declares that He will now call them friends, He again references the Spirit of Truth Who would lead them into ALL truth. That is, the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, would lead them into complete (intimate) knowledge concerning Him and what He is doing.

“”I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.“

In 2009 the Lord gave me a prophetic lesson on “True Worship.” It begins with this:

“Worship is the means through which the created becomes one with the Creator. All distraction fades as the spirit unites with its Source. You can only experience My Presence to the extent to which you disregard all else. I AM and I desire to make Myself known to you. You struggle because you desire to experience Me through the context of that which you already know. This is thwarting you in that I have no similarity to anything you know. I AM The Other; I AM the Creator, and all power is with Me. You cannot possibly understand Me through the working of your intellect. You must allow your spirit to make contact with Me as it is guided by My Spirit that is within you.”

There it is, the Lord WANTS us to know Him; and He has given us His Spirit to make Himself known to us.

In our opening scripture we see that Jesus, in His conversation with the Samaritan woman, reveals to her what worship is really about. Indeed, it is not about where one goes to worship, but rather where worship takes one. That is to say, the spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit of God in us, guides us into true worship; and it is only from the place of worship, that we touch the Face of God.
