“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In 2008 the Lord gave me a prophetic lesson (the Holy Spirit dictates the lesson into my mind, and I write it down—as best I can—in my own words) that I called “Deception is For the Brethren.” Today we will begin a consideration of this lesson together. [Text presented in bold print is from that lesson.]

“Deception is the means by which you reconcile your deviant desires and behaviors with what you have known in your spirit.  Those who walk in darkness have no need to be deceived—there is no light—there is no conflict.  But those who have been exposed to light know the difference. They choose to believe a lie to conquer the outcry of the Spirit within them. If Satan is your master, why would he have need to don sheep's clothing? Deception is for the brethren.”

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV

When Jesus was asked by His disciples when the end of the age would be, the first thing He says to them is a warning concerning deception.

“Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Among the myriad biblical references to the danger of deception, we have this warning Paul gave to the church at Ephesus:

“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Indeed, in our opening scripture we see Paul warning Timothy of the same danger.

Child of God, the world walks in darkness. They are blind to the things of the Spirit of God and are living their lives by the dictates of the world system, the flesh and the devil. They are already under the evil sway of the enemy of our souls. As such, make no mistake, warning about the danger of deception in the Last Days before the coming of Jesus Christ, is for Christians. Yes, deception is for the brethren.

Lord willing, we go further into our lesson tomorrow.

Peace to you.

Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
